***DISCUSSION QUESTION***

Have you ever written a “life list?” If so, what sort of items were on it, and have you completed any of them? If you haven’t, why not?

  1. I have always kept a list in 'my head' of things that I would like to do and places I would like to visit, but haven't taken much time in writing it down on paper. I was recently challenged by Chris to think about what my goals in life were, so I began to think about it a little bit more and e-mailed a list to myself in March. Some of the few things that I wrote down were things that I could commit to.

I am sharing with you so here they are: run a marathon, run a 1/2 or full marathon on foreign soil, yoga classes, plant a garden, knit a scarf, piano lessons, brush up on my Spanish so I can manage conversations, & tennis lessons.

None completed as of yet, but I am hoping that now that I have shared, it will provide with me with a little extra motivation to get it started!
(I did plant some herbs and tomato plants this year - but not really a garden...)

  2. Heather, I think that counts as a garden...those of us w/o backyards have to get creative!
Thanks to Heather's bday present this year, I too have some planting going on!
In regards to having a "list", I have to admit that I havent actually had one. Since I was young/teenage years, I promised myself that I would never be shy and let good opportunities to try new things pass me by. I spent most of childhood (grade school years) being painfully shy to the point where many people thought I was snobby or mean.
After reading the first chapter and a half of this book I think that I need to start making more goals with deadlines. The last goal I had was to get my professional certification for teaching...which is not nearly as fun or exciting as Marissa's (character in book) list.
I will re-post after some thought on this.

  3. Ugh! I typed a response and it got erased, ok, shorter version. I am likeing the book alot, June's awkwardness is entertaining. I think we should make a lists, last comment I blabbed about how many random lists I made but not really feeling like re-writing so I was thinking we should make a list of 21 things to do before out 31st birthdays...Liz, you just get more time...Hill you just get less...haha..ok, or 11 things in 1yr or 3yrs...i just like odd numbers...what do you girls think? It would be fun because we could hold ourselves accountable and share our lists or post. yes? no? thoughts?
